A shining star

Metal deatails and a navigation key with stylishly embossed shorcut icons. Add to that a balanced look and feel - the T280i oozes sophistication.

As well as its good looks, the T280 lets you take and send a photo in just a few clicks. Browse through your pictures on the phone’s screen or send them via Bluetooth™ to a friend’s phone. Both the T280 andits sister-product, the T270, are compatible with Bluetooth™ Headsets such as the newly announced HBH-PV770. The HBH-PV770 headset sits discretely in your ear and offers remarkably clear audio, even in noisy environments, thanks to its Digital Noise Cancellation and fast Automatic Volume Adjustment features.

The T280i is said to be the obvious update to the P280. This tri-band world roaming phone deserves that title and much more. Looks sleek, handles well and has brilliant blue lights to boast of, it has features to match. Navigation through the menus / reading messages is fun as you get to use the four way joystick which is really a “joy” to use. As mentioned before the T280i has world roaming capability i.e. it supports all networks (GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / GSM 1900). Having a weight of 113 gms you can talk for 4.30 hours without worrying about the battery, which happens to be a Li-Ion one. Besides supplying such a good talk time the battery also gives a standby of 135 hours (5.6 days). Perhaps the weight is a wee bit on the heavier side due to the fact that the phone has a memory for Phonebook which is also on the heavier side The T280i can store up to 1000 contacts / numbers in its phonebook.

The future of communication is here

A 3G smartphone that lets you leave your PC behind while traveling, yet access everything you need for effective communication. It’s all here, now.

The design of the P990i incorporates a conventional numeric keypad which can be flipped open or removed to reveal the full QWERTY alphanumeric keypad beneath. In addition to key-based data entry, the p990i has a touch-sensitive screen with a stylus to operate an onscreen virtual keyboard. Most users seem to prefer this to the real keyboard. The phone also has support for handwriting recognition. The 3-way jog dial can be used for scrolling and selecting and most phone functions can be accessed without opening the flip.

P990i Specifications P990i takes effective communications to new heights. You have everywhere access to the Internet, push e-mail to get your e-mail straight to your phone and video calling and messaging for effective communications. Utilize the fastest existing wireless networks and the most advanced network operator services. Take pictures to be proud of. The P990i has a 2 megapixel digital camera with video. Catch the moment and save it or send it. Show what your camera can do. Symbian OS 9.1, the latest version of the most-used open smartphone operative system is now launched and P990i has it. Add innovative applications to your phone and make it a powerful and effective business tool.

The P990i also has several hardware buttons located all around the casing. On the right side, above the Memory Stick Pro Duo slot, there is a configurable button which can be used to launch selected system application (e.g. the Web browser) or quickly switch to the standby (Activity) screen, main menu or task manager. On the other side of the memory card slot there is a camera shutter release button: press it halfway to autofocus; press it all the way down to take a picture or start recording a video clip. This button is accompanied.

p1i.jpg

Dimensions: 106 x 55 x 17 mm
Weight: 124 g
Display: 240×320 pixel and 262,144 color touchscreen

Price Range: $529.00 to $896.1

Business in your pocket

The Sony Ericsson P1i combines business with pleasure in one stylish, compact package. Mobile efficiency that keeps you in touch - and fits in your pocket.

Staying connected is staying efficient. The Sony Ericsson P1i gives you always-on access to your company email, calendar and contacts. No matter where you go. Bring your office on the road. 3G gives you the speed you need. And you have full office applications on your phone - view and edit documents on the go. When you unwind after work, the Sony Ericsson P1i stays on duty. Listen to music. Snap a picture with the 3.2 megapixel camera. Or just relax with a game.

Sony Ericsson did not include a full QWERTY keyboard on the P1i, but instead put all the letters and numbers in 20 keys. Most of these keys rock left or right to serve as different letters. For example, the top left key is used for both the Q and W letters. Rocking it left will get you the former, while rocking right will type the latter. The center portion of the keypad has numbers in red laid out just like a regular numeric keypad for use in the phone application and when filling out fields where numbers should be entered.

If you want to quickly access the Internet, you can do that by simply using the @ button placed on the right side of the smartphone. On the same right side, you can also notice the M2 slot card and the camera button. On top of the phone, there’s an Infrared port and the Power button, while on the bottom of the device it’s the universal port used for charging the device or for simply attaching the headset. Upside the big display, you can see that P1i features a secondary camera, which is used for videocalls, and the in-call speaker. The 3.2 Megapixel camera placed on the back of the phone features flash, autofocus and macro mode. The compound used looks very stylish and doesn’t catch fingerprints. The smartphone’s sizes (106 x 55 x 17 mm) are well balanced and make it perfectly fit for almost any hand or pocket. It’s not even too heavy and weighs around 124 grams (including battery). Overall, in terms of design, Sony Ericsson’s P1i is a success and a big improvement compared to its older P910i or P990i predecessors.
