ony Ericson K530i allows the user to access the internet by means of the built in Access NetFront it is a web browser that comes already installed in the mobile phone that provides the means to search the World Wide Web for information regarding online music, games and other online resources. The handset supports the revolutionary RSS feeds method that allows the mobile phone user to receive the latest information and reports beamed directly to their mobile phones using the RSS feeds.

The user can use the built in Access NetFront™ Web browser which comes preinstalled to search the Web for information or to buy music & games online. The phone supports RSS feeds which allow the user to have all the latest reports fed directly to their handset via the RSS feeds. The Internet focused K530i comes with a WAP browser which is a 2.0 version XHTML Web browsers which allows the user to access the Internet when they are out & about. The user can enjoy a fun mobile Internet experience on their luxurious new K320i handset. Bar/block design (I ain’t calling it candybar - it’s a US term), and reasonably lightweight, the K530i is a typical cookie-cutter mid-range Sony Ericsson phone. Made of plastic, the K530i feels solid and fits snugly into my piano-player hands.The screen resolution is a low 176 x 220 - most new mid to high-end mobile phones have at least 240 x 320 resolution. The plastic screen is fine - it’s the same as many of the other Sony Ericsson phone screens.

The design of the P990i incorporates a conventional numeric keypad which can be flipped open or removed to reveal the full QWERTY alphanumeric keypad beneath. In addition to key-based data entry, the p990i has a touch-sensitive screen with a stylus to operate an onscreen virtual keyboard. Most users seem to prefer this to the real keyboard. The phone also has support for handwriting recognition. The 3-way jog dial can be used for scrolling and selecting and most phone functions can be accessed without opening the flip.

Putting you in touch with the world

A touchscreen and stylus is the perfect way to operate this 3G phone with massive, 4GB music storage and fast, full-colour, full-screen Internet.

The number pad has grown on me. It’s not completely flat; there are some raised bumps (almost like Braille marks) for each key so you can locate the keys without looking (something a perfectly flat keypad could never manage). Given that this bump is in the centre of the key, while the number is on the left of the ‘strike area’ (and letters on the right) it makes more sense to type blind than watching your fingers, as you tend to focus on the numbers and miss hitting the centre. Great for a few words or phone numbers, but for any reasonable amount of input you will be using the touch screen’s Jot character recognition, or relying on your Contacts database for email addresses. It really doesn’t improve with use.

The user will find surfing the Internet a very pleasurable & enjoyable experience with the help of the fast 3G technology. The phone comes with Bluetooth® wireless technology so therefore the user can connect wirelessly to any local Bluetooth compatible device & enjoy the wireless freedom. The W950i comes complete with Opera™ 8.0 which is the ultimate web browser & will provide the user with the Internet experience they have come to expect from their computer.

Apart from having no camera, the W950i is unusual in other respects. It’s also the slimmest smartphone on the market, at just 15mm thick, and is also a 3G phone. It’s compact and lightweight and feels just right in the hand. The W950i has a flat keypad, that is actually very easy to use, together with a jog dial and dedicated music player keys on the sides of the keypad for easy access to your music collection. In addition the W950i has a touchscreen and stylus that makes navigation a breeze. It also supports handwriting recognition. The screen is very large (2.6 inches across), is bright and sharp, and is brilliant for navigating, managing playlists, and viewing graphics. In fact this is one of the most ergonomic and user-friendly phones around, and is a real pleasure to use. Nevertheless you should still expect to have to spend some time learning to use all of the features on this device, simply because it has so many of them!

The Mega Bass™ feature provides the user with a bass frequency feature which allows the user to enjoy a superior listening experience on their mobile phone. The W660i plays music in nearly every digital format except WMA. The included Disc2Phone software will rip your tunes straight from CD to the phone’s 256MB memory. With the phone closed, playback controls are handled by the five-way nav, allowing you to skip tracks, fast forward, and rewind. The MP3 player can create playlists, shuffle songs, and repeat tracks. Airplane mode plays music with the phone off. Battery life lasts around 15 hours (up to 30 hours in music mode only) and Bluetooth connects to a wireless headset, but not wireless headphones. A 1.3-megapixel camera snaps good-looking photos.
